How do Security Companies take Advantage of Security Guards

This is the header image for the BPS Security article titled, “How do Security Companies take Advantage of Security Guards”.

When we say, “The security industry is corrupt!” we are not kidding. Recently, one of our former employees reached out to us in efforts to receive some advice on how to handle an awful situation dealing with his current (well, no longer current) employer. Below, we are diving in to how security companies take advantage of security guards.

The Story - How do Security Companies take Advantage of Security Guards

Our former employee (who we will refer to as John for his privacy) left BPS Security for the hope of making $30/hour. Now we pride ourselves in paying our guards liveable wages, but it is important to understand that each guard will earn a salary that matches their skill level. At this point in time $30/hour was not John’s level.

The security company that he went to was the subcontractor to another company, Signal 88. After a few jobs, Firebase Security “went out of business”, pocketed over $90,000 and did not pay his guards.

We will not be surprised if, within a few months, Firebase Security opens another security company under a different name.

The Aftermath

This is a screenshot of a conversation between BPS’s former employee and BPS. This image is used in the BPS Security article titled, “How do Security Companies take Advantage of Security Guards”.

As you can see in our conversation below, Rene (one of our managers) warned John and tried to tell him that it was too good to be true. Sadly, Rene was correct! We are sharing this story because it is far too common and needs to change.
